Custom Cosplay Commissions

I'm currently testing out a new form of "batch" commissions as my old method lead to a LOT of burnout and stress. This means I'm going to have to be more selective with what work I take on, when, and how much.

While I cannot accept every commission sent to me (I am only one person, after all), I appreciate your interest in my work endlessly!

Available Services

Sewing Patterns

  • Custom sewing patterns made to either the measurements in my size chart, or custom measurements at an additional fee.
  • Includes sewing pattern in A4/Letter printable format with notches, grainlines, and seam allowance included.
  • NEW! A0 printable formatting available for +$5
  • If I think a pattern would be a good fit for the shop, I will offer a discounted rate on making that pattern "shop ready." This includes all 8 sizes (XS-3X) as well as a fully illustrated instruction booklet.
  • All other sewing patterns do not come with booklets at this time, as this is a service I no longer offer for standard commissions.
  • For patterns without booklets, included with your commission is an unscripted, typically 3-5 minute video going over your digitally drafted pattern including construction tips and full 360 pattern angles. I am also available for any questions or concerns you may have post-pattern delivery

Embroidered Patches

  • Custom digitized and embroidered patches shipped to you.
  • Includes digitizing, test-stitching, final stitching, iron or sew-on backing, and shipping.
  • The maximum patch size available is 6x10 inches.
  • Patches are embroidered on high-quality felt and stabilizer and are hand-cut.
  • $5 restocking fees may be charged to purchase embroidery thread colours I do not have on hand.

Prop Blueprints and SVG Files

  • Flat patterned vectors formatted as SVG, PNG, or PDF for blueprints.
  • Unlike patterns, blueprints range in complexity and do not contain instructions. They are intended as guides, not step-by-step walkthroughs.
  • SVG files are compatible with cutting machines like Cricut and Silhouette, whereas PNG designs are best to be traced and cut by hand or used with printable products such as iron-on transfers or sublimation.

3D Models and Kits

  • 3D files and kits are limited to props and small accessories at this time. This means no armour/bracers/breastplates/etc. please!
  • Kits can be a maximum of 256mm x 256mm x 256mm before having to be split up into multiple pieces.
  • Only FDM printing is offered at this time and 3D printed kits must be larger than 1 inch in diameter.
  • Prints are typically printed in PLA, but I can offer 95A TPU (Flexible, rubber-like filament) for select kits upon request.
  • Kits can be printed in up to 4 colours. $10 restocking fees may be charged to purchase filament colours I do not have on hand.

Terms of Commission

Terms

  • By submitting the quote form, you agree to all terms outlined on this page and confirm that you have read them in full.
  • I own all rights to the commission. Commissioned patterns, blueprints, and patches may end up on the CosPayton shop. This does not apply to original designs or NDA work. No commission is guaranteed to end up as a mass-released pattern.
  • I retain the right to post any finished commission work to my social media and galleries and use it for future advertisement purposes. (This does not include photos of you in costume, only work I have done, such as patterning, embroidery, etc.)
  • Commissions are often more expensive than a “store rate” you would see for a similar product in the shop. This is due to the custom nature of commissions as well as the one-on-one design process required to complete work.
  • I may offer discounts if a project is something I see being popular or successful enough in the shop, but this is entirely at my discretion. You are welcome to ask about this discount but know it is not guaranteed.
  • Knowingly sending AI-generated reference images or messaging will cause your commission quote to be deleted and ignored.
  • My commissioned work may not be used to train or be inputted into any AI generation software or LLM. If I find you have done this during the process of a commission, your commission will be cancelled with no refunds given and you will be blacklisted from future commissions.

Payment

  • Despite being Canadian, all payment is accepted in USD due to it being where the majority of my clients are located.
  • Payment is only accepted via PayPal.
  • Payment plans are offered for commissions over $80 USD.
  • Partial payment is required upfront before any work is begun.
  • Full payment is required before any commission is delivered.
  • Commissions must be fully paid off within six months of the initial start date unless otherwise agreed upon. Failure to pay your commission in full will result in your commission being considered “abandoned” and work paused.
  • Full refunds are only available before work is started. Once work begins, all commissions are non-refundable.

Communication and Delivery

  • Upon filling out the quote form below, I will do my best to get back to you once the form is closed. If you do not hear back within a week of the form closure date, please send me an email at cospayton@gmail.com to ensure your form was submitted successfully.
  • Standard commission turnaround time is 2-4 months depending on complexity and existing client work. Commission work order is prioritized based on deadlines, rush fees paid, and complexity. I often work on multiple commissions at the same time.
  • Please respond to my emails in a timely matter as I do regular check-ins with clients throughout the various steps of your commission. Failure to respond to an email (and subsequent follow-ups) within 1 month of the initial date sent without prior notice will result in the commission being forfeited and no money refunded.
  • All digital patterns, blueprints, or 3D file commissions are delivered via email. Physical kits and patches are shipped with tracked mail where available.

Pricing

Pricing varies wildly based on complexity, deadlines, and commission type.

For convenience's sake, I have included “typical” prices below. This does not guarantee your commission will cost this amount but serves as a rough, ballpark estimate based on past work.

  • $50-200 for a custom pattern
  • $30 plus shipping for custom patch digitizing and manufacturing
  • $50-200 for a custom 3D printed kit
  • $25-100 for a custom 3D file
  • $15-50 for a custom blueprint file

Projects with a delivery date within a month of payment are subject to a rush fee of 50% of the final price. Projects due within two weeks are subjected to a rush fee of 100% of the final price.

Disallowed Media

Media from this list may not be commissioned, and any commission requests from these franchises will be deleted.

This is either due to personal preference, complexity of character designs, or not wanting to support a bigoted creator (cough cough, JK Rowling)
